What pelletizing method (underwater, water ring, or stranding) is best for my product?
The Black Clawson Converting Machinery Pelletorâ„¢ Underwater pelletizer is best for all types of products due to its precision knife to die plate alignment tolerance capabilities and the unique die plate heating method that allows the orifice holes to stay open and flowing without freeze off. Hot or cold (wet or dry) start-up is possible without pelletizer disassembly. This is particularly important to save start-up material losses, time and “on demand” batch process restarts without operator difficulty. Due to the fast pellet quenching and cut off, the underwater Pelletorâ„¢ can pelletize from very low to very high viscosity while producing uniform pellets. The water ring machine type also available is generally limited to medium to higher viscosity materials that quench quickly due to the cutting of molten product that then must be centrifugally flung into a water ring curtain that surrounds the die plate. The stranding method is currently the least desirable due to pellet shape, unifor
