What should my peak flow reading be with healthy lungs?
A peak flow measure is a good indication of when your asthma is acting up and getting worse. I have one at home and when I’m experiencing no asthma symptoms, my highest reading has been 500-550 I believe. However, when my asthma acts up, the reading goes to as low as 200. You should have been given a sticker with colored zones so you are aware of when it is REALLY bad or getting bad. The yellow zone means your asthma is acting up. Red zone is serious and you need to get to the hospital/doctor ASAP! The zones are determined by your personal best. For instance, I believe the yellow zone is 80-50% of your personal best. Red is less than 50% of your personal best.
