Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth face higher than average rates of street-involvement. One reason for this is that youth who attempt to be open about their sexual identities face heterosexism and homophobia at home. Youth from the LGBTQ community also face higher rates of violence on the street. Additionally, gender-exclusive service restrictions can make it difficult for LGBTQ youth to find help.
