The ArcView 9.x with extensions (Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, and Network Analyst) 1-year time-out software ($100 per year) comes with only 2 CDs. One CD contains the software, and the other CD contains the documentation in PDF format. No data or technical support is provided. ESRI has FAQs at http://www.esri.com/industries/university/education/student_faqs.html that may help answer your questions. The ArcView 9.x with Spatial Analyst academic individual license ($250 for ArcView, $150 for Spatial Analyst) is a complete version of ArcView 9.x with sample data. The academic licensing provides that the software cannot be upgraded, and does not come with standard technical support.
