WHATS A HARE HOUND?

I guess by some people’s definition it is a hound who runs a hare fast, wild and recklessly. And usually the inference points toward a dog who readily competes in the Large Pack trials. WHAT’S A COTTONTAIL HOUND? Some would say that it’s a dog that is slow and potters, barking too much in one place and doesn’t hunt for beans and lacks the toughness to run very long and can’t be hunted with successfully. OUR HOUNDS don’t fit either of those two descriptions just stated. Because of the geographical area that I live in, my training/hunting activities with the hounds are done almost exclusively on the hare. So outsiders might get the impression that our hounds are rough, wild and unsteady. Other people might consider our hounds unworthy ’cause we compete in SPO trials mostly on cottontails. However we do our very best to purge ourselves away from either of the stereotypes. We consider our hounds to be BEAGLES, pure and simple.
