Whats that white felty stuff on this underside of my embroidered shirt?

A. That felty stuff is called backer. It’s purpose is to hold the fabric stable while we’re embroidering the design. We trim it as close to the design as possible when we’re done sewing so it’s as unobtrusive as we can get it. P.S. It has to be there, so if you’re buying embroidered shirts that don’t have a backer on the inside, it’s time to find another embroiderer.
