Whats the standard procedures for hospital births these days?
I think it varies from hospitol to hospitol but no enema for me not even an option, no shaving either. I asked for meds but they would not have offered if I hadn’t asked. It was nice, I expected an operating type room but it was more like a normal hospital room all decorated nicely. They had portable bassenettes for babies and let baby stay in room with me but they actually told us that if he had to go for testing they recommend going to ease your mind. I let him go for one test alone because I was so tired. They had all nurses wearing certain tags were aloud access to baby and they had a good system so if baby was taken past a certain point an alarm would go off and if you took off the bracelet and alarm would go off. My nurse forgot to have manager turn it off and cut it off then had to get someone to shut off the alarm.
I had a c section…I thought my baby would be in the nursery with all the other babies but they just give you little “beds on wheels” for your baby and he/she sleeps next to you =) unless there are complications with your little one. I prefer hospital just for safetly reason and if complications arise…
My hospital didn’t do an enema or require shaving that was optional… Most hospitals put the baby directly on your chest these days. Your baby even sleeps in your room with you, there are no longer nurserys at least where I live. Nurses will be helping you out during your hospital stay teaching you everything you need to know answering your questions. My hospital experience was a great one. Also you should if you are not already start watching A Baby Story on TLC.
I have three children 6 3 and 2 months. In north Carolina where we live they don’t shave you or give you an enema. My babies were early so they did keep them a little longer but I got to see and hold them before they started their work like the apgar and all that. This is my story after my husband cut the cord they took her to a heated baby bed in my room cleaned her up did her apgars listened to her heart and lungs weighed and measured her and wrapped her up. It seemed like hours before they gave her to me. Then when they finished everything theyhad to do they brought her back over to my bed and everybody left the room. So I latched her on and then they came and moved us out of the delivery room and took her to the nursery to see the peditrician. After that they brought her back and she stayed in my room till we left the hospital. Every morning they took her to the nursery to get checked outby the drs and then they brought her back. It was a little different with my middle child but b
They didn’t shave me or anything when I had natural birth with my children. If you had stitches down there they give you something to make it feel better down there. They give me something before I left home to soft up my stools so it wouldn’t hurt. Only time they would whisk the baby away if something is wrong with the baby. Which happened to my first son. He was born blue and wasn’t breasthing. They took him and do cpr on him. He a healthy 7 year old boy now. With my second son they put top of my belly and same for my baby girl that is 6 weeks old now.
