At its meeting Monday night, the Town Council voted 5-0 to appoint Dave Novak to that position, then 5-0 to instruct Associate Town Attorney Chuck Parkinson to draft an amendment to the 2009 Salary Ordinance under which Novak will earn a salary of $55,000, with $45,000 of the amount to come from the General Fund and $10,000 from CEDIT funds. Novak’s benefits include health care, vehicle support, and telephone support. Novak, a Chesterton resident, has a degree in construction technology from Purdue Calumet University, and for the last 20 years has worked for two of the largest general contractors in the region, Garriup Construction of Gary
