Where did the idea of Zombies come from?
Well before. In Haitian traditional religion, when an unscrupulous sorceror wanted a slave, he would begin by choosing someone and slipping certain poisons into his food. The person would appear to die, and the sorceror would be by to rob the grave, and keep this person in a drugged state as long as he or she needed them. Such people were called Zuvembies or Zombies. Read the Serpent and the Rainbow for more information — most of us are disgusted by modern-day zombie tales which are worse than say, that Bela Lugosi film I walked with a Zombie which at least gave Noble Johnson SOME work though he was better than that.
