Which has more health benefits….green tea or chai tea?
Chai tea is just black tea with spices added. Black tea, in turn, comes from the same plant as green tea, so a lot of the health benefits are the same. Black tea does contain less antioxidants though, due to the way it’s produced. Antioxidants are important in fighting various types of cancers. The other thing to consider is that chai is normally had with sugar and milk. Sugar is just bad in general, particularly because we get so much of it in our diet; but milk also stops black tea’s heart-improving benefits (see source below). So, on the balance of things, I would say that green tea is more healthy. Though if you have chai without milk or sugar, they’re both quite good for you.
