The retail price of a Wii, around $250, is a great price for a new generation video game console. It’s the cheapest of the big three by a wide margin- a Playstation 3 will set you back $400-$600 and an XBox 360 goes for $300-$500, depending on which model you buy. Perhaps you’re wondering about the inflated prices you see to buy a Wii online, such as from Amazon or eBay? The answer there is that they’re so expensive because people will buy them for that price. Those aren’t retailers, they’re re-sellers, and they’re jacking up the price to whatever the market will bear. Wiis are very difficult to find in stock, so people are willing to pay hundreds more dollars to guarantee they will get one, especially around Christmas. The trick is to avoid those online gougers and find one you can buy locally from a retailer. It’s tough, but it can be done (I’ve done it two Christmases running). First, look up a list of all of the places in your area that carry the Wii:
