Why change the review system from stars to scores?
In the old system, 90% of the reviews given out at the site were 10 stars out of total of 10 possible, rendering the point of having a star system relatively moot. Many artists who wanted higher scores would leave higher scores (regardless of how they felt about the song), hoping that they would receive the same high score when that artist would return reviews. With this 10/10 paradigm in place, leaving anything but the top score was increasingly met with hostile reaction, providing an even greater feedback loop limiting the dynamic range of useful reviews being left.It is not useful feedback to the artist to know that all songs are equal at the site, and it’s not useful to the listener for discovering the better music at the site. The latter point makes ACIDplanet.com a suboptimal destination for listeners, which greatly limits the potential for getting artists’ music exposed to more people. Our solution is multi-fold:.
