Why do some people get white spots on their teeth?
Perhaps you’ve noticed that some people who wear braces develop white spots on their teeth. Basically, the discoloration indicates decay due to improper cleaning. According to recent scientific studies, the depth of this type of tooth decay can be reduced by rinsing with sodium fluoride. It is recommended that patients with fixed braces rinse daily with a .05% solution of sodium fluoride. Of course, the best prevention is to keep teeth meticulously clean through a combination of tooth brushing, flossing and proxy brushes.
