WHY DO UNITED WAY AGENCIES CONDUCT FUND DRIVES OF THEIR OWN?
Because United Way provides primarily for their operating expenses. If an agency needs a new building or equipment they must raise the necessary funds on their own. When an agency must hold such a drive, it obtains the approval of the United Way Board. When an agency must supplement their operating funds, they must also request permission from the United Way Board. Permission is usually granted, with the recommendation a product or service is offered for the donation.
