Why do we need an organization named Syro-Malabar Catholics of Canada?
Since 1960’s Catholics from Kerala have been immigrating to Canada and started to settle indifferent cities. Nobody has taken any initiative to unite all the Catholics who belongs to Syro-Malabar Church, so it can function independently under the hierarchical order. In almost all thecities there are temporary arrangements, some cities have once in a month Holy Qurbana (HolyMass) and some have once in a week. All these are functioning with the permission of localdioceses. It is the Canon law of the Catholic Church that each and every individual is free topractice their faith in their own liturgical rite.It is also the need and requirement of the time that our community needs to grow, our childrenneeds to understand their Catholic Identity and faith based Cultural Values. Everybody knowsthe number of families immigrating to Canada from Kerala and Middle East is increasing day byday.
