Why is clean-coal technology important, and how does it help solve the global climate change problem?
With the global community coming together in early December to adopt the Bali road map, which calls for deep cuts in global emissions, we will need to convert parts of our energy economy to wind and other renewable technologies, while understanding that fossil fuels will continue to supply a large majority of our energy demand. In the United States, over half of our energy comes from coal. Therefore, as we transition away from old, dirty coal technologies in our new energy economy, coal-gasification technology …will play a vital role in our ability to most efficiently and cost-effectively achieve cuts necessary to combat global climate change.
