During the 1950’s and 1970’s we had vast numbers of immigrants who moved here to fill jobs that at the time it was stated “Britons wont do”. These immigrants came from in main the Caribbean and Pakistan. If you look at the unemployment figures, these are the two communities most likely to be unemployed. What baffles me is that the same argument is still being used today “there are jobs that britons wont do”…..incorrect, there are jobs that Britons wont do for slave wages. And that those long term unemployed everyone moans about are much more likely to be immigrants or their descendants. To answer your question, whilst we still have a labour government they will never seriously reduce the number of immigrants beyond petty gestures. The reason being is that at their heart they are still socialist and given that believe fundamentally in world without borders.
