For a renewal of a child’s passport, the old passport suffices as proof of U.K. citizenship. The application must be countersigned and one passport photograph be certified by a guarantor who has known either you or the child for at least two years. If the parents are divorced but were married at any time after the child’s birth either parent can sign, unless there is a court order about parental responsibility or about the child having a passport.
