Do you think improvements need to be made to the Alamodome to continue to attract major amateur events?
I do, but with the caveat of only if the cost is within reason. I believe the Alamodome can still serve a significant purpose for amateur sports, collegiate sports. We are hopeful about UTSA playing football there. And that gives us a base from which to work, in addition to trying to attract another round of NCAA Final Four investments. I believe the Alamodome still has some life in it. It raises our profile. There are also events like the Church of God convention that don’t make national news but bring a lot of money into our community. We cannot just enhance the dome for the Final Four. Q: The Dallas Cowboys are in the third year of a five-year, rent-free contract with the city to hold their training at the Alamodome. If the team asks to extend the contract, would you be in favor of asking them to pay rent? We will, of course, honor that contract.
