How do I unstick a house window?
Break SealVerify that the window is unlocked. Insert a putty knife blade between the bottom of the window and the windowsill. Tap the handle of the putty knife gently to wedge in the blade. Move the blade across the entire bottom edge to break the paint seal. Break the seal on the outside of the window if the window was painted shut on the outside as well.Clean TracksChisel the dried paint out of the side window tracks above the sash with a small chisel and handle. Sand both side tracks with sandpaper. Spray tracks with an oil-based lubricant.Open WindowAttempt to open the window by hand. Insert the flat end of a small crowbar under the window if it does not open by hand. Push the top of the crow bar down to pry the window up.
