Easy to make Old fashioned Potato soup recipe the whole family will love. Peel 1 1/2 pounds of potatoes and dice them in small pieces, cut up one carrot and one celery stalk into little pieces. Dice 1 medium size onion, cut up fine and sautéed in 2 tablespoons of butter. Put it all in a large pot, add to it; 1/2 teaspoon celery salt, 1/2 teaspoon marjoram, 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed, 1 small bay leaf, 2 cups of water, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 stick of butter, 1 tablespoon flour, salt and pepper to taste. Bring soup to a boil, turn heat down to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. When soup is done, place a portion in a soup bowl and sprinkle the top with a little shredded cheddar cheese, fresh chopped chives and a few bacon bits. Serves 4 people, if you want to make more just double the recipe.
