On average, the cost of living on Manitoulin is certainly lower than it is in more heavily populated areas. This is largely due to the difference in the prices for property and housing on the Island, where equivalent properties are often less than half the price on Manitoulin than they are in more heavily populated locales (especially for waterfront property). The value of the average home for the area is around $100,000 (less than half the $250,000 average price in Toronto).
