How plausible would it be to have a pet duck billed platypus?

They are very shy creatures and even people running wildlife sanctuaries where they are kept don’t really see them much of the time. They need a large water environment with muddy banks. They aren’t tameable, and yes, the males DO have venomous spurs. A man was on a tv show not long ago who had been pierced by this spur on his hand- he permanently lost the use of his entire arm and described the pain as being like having his arm in boiling water. The pain he said had never entirely gone away and five years later, he said he still had episodes of excruciating pain due to the nerve damage caused by the poison. The poison is considered as dangerous as rattle snake venom…so yes, it IS serious. Other than the difficulties and lack of interest in keeping a high maintenance, shy, elusive animal as a pet, they are endangered and not available for pet ownership due to the vulnerability of the species.
