What is the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon?
According to their website, “The concept behind the Center . . . is to have technologists and fine artists work together on projects that produce artifacts that are intended to entertain, inform, inspire, or otherwise affect an audience/guest/player/ participant.” In other words, the Center uses robots, videogames, and other technologies to teach and entertain. This is a unique tour in that you will have a chance to hear an overview from a Wharton alumna, who is currently in the program, before going on a guided tour of the building. The ETC is a spectacle tour complete with technologies from past, present and future. This is also the best time of year to attend the event because the students are approaching the semester end so they have plenty to showcase from their current projects.
