What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Janitor?
A Janitor is one who is engaged in cleaning and maintaining places of business or other institutions with buildings or similar physical premises. Janitors, like Housekeepers, typically are responsible primarily for maintaining a building’s surfaces and overall appearance. Some Janitors also might perform minor maintenance work, such as painting, caulking, landscaping, and the like. Some Janitors also provide minor security services, such as opening and closing places of business, schools, and other buildings. Janitors do not generally need intense or comprehensive academic education or training. However, some business, industrial, or institutional environments might require specialized training with regard to the particular operations being carried out on the premises.
