What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Speech Therapist?
A Speech Therapist is one who is engaged in the Medical industry; evaluating, diagnosing, treating, preventing and otherwise attempting to heal patients with abnormalities related to speech, communication, swallowing, and other related physical or emotional functionality. Speech Therapists, also frequently called Speech-Language Pathologists, might work with patients with a variety of disorders, caused by a variety of influencing factors. For example, some patients who have experienced a stroke are unable to speak, since certain parts of the brain governing that function might have been damaged from the stroke. Speech Therapists work with these patients to help them regain their ability to speak and otherwise communicate.
