The ‘new car’ smell is generally just the combined smells of new vinyl, carpeting, upholstery etc. – kind of like a ‘new shoe’ smell. There are all kinds of cleaners/de-odorizers on the market, so just check around and find one that you like. The most important thing for keeping a car smelling good is to keep it cleaned out – try to avoid eating or smoking in it (I don’t smoke, but strangely enough I let people smoke in my car – so long as they roll their window down). Unless you can afford to take your car to a detail shop occasionally, you should probably get a caddy and fill it up with car cleaning products – a good car wash/wax, some spray wax (for the exterior), some tire shine, a few good clean cloths, maybe a shammy cloth – and then for the interior, get some upholstery cleaner, some windex, and some armor-all. It is amazing how a quick cleaning/vacuuming and a little time polishing and wiping down can make a car look much better – and even though there is no actual basis for it
