overdrive ON = lower rpm shifting point for example : overdrive OFF = uses more gas , shifting is at higher rpm for example : overdrive ON which it does all the time = use less gas, shifting are at lower rpm so it shift more often overdrive OFF shifting point is usually at 3000-4000rpm which it would like to select a lower gear like 1st, 2nd or 3rd whereas overdrive ON, it shift at under 3000 rpm and would like to select a higher gear like 2nd ,3rd, 4th to keep the engine revving on the lowest rpm as possible to save gas pressing the O/D off is a way to downshift a gear and get more power out of your engine where is needed so DON’T keep it OFF ! When the overdrive switch is turned on, the overdrive off indicator will go out, that is what it is suppose to do !
