What progress has been made to establish refugee camps for new arrivals in Iran?
9 possible camp-sites for new arrivals have been identified by the Iranian authorities in no-man s land : 6 in Iran s Khorassan Province and 3 in Sistan Balochistan Province. A UNHCR water assessment mission to the sites concluded that most of them are in remote, harsh desert locations. Water would have to be transported to the sites by tanker from distant wells. In the event of a significant refugee influx, the logistics would be extremely complex.
