Why couldn one use adhesive or construction caulk instead of thinset mortar when laying down ceramic tiles?

There are adhesives that can be used on floor tiles that are smaller than 12″x12″ BUT as you have been told better safe than sorry…thinset type mortars if installed properly support the entire tile and help prevent cracking.A good construction adhesive may work, but if not you will have a terrible time getting tiles up…you won’t save anything by using construction adhesive so no upside plenty of downside!!!
