We gave them tons of military equipment. They just didn’t use it right. Following the war, the US began to draw down its military. Entire divisions were shut down. Much of that equipment that the divisions had was given to the pro-democracy Chinese. The other thing you have to figure is that Europe was rebuilding, as was Japan, all the allied countries were tired of war. It was getting hard to for the US to sell war bonds after 3 years, let alone 4 or 5. Things like Iwo Jima and Okinawa that cost so many casualties in a short time were also discouraging to the US people. If it happened, it would have continued the war because the USSR would have supported China, even though China was just as ready to go war with them as well, especially when the settlement after the war gave Outer Mongolia to the USSR.
