After entering command 198 from RCIs terminal window, it can communicate. How can I fix it?
Short answer: reset the controller. More options below… Explanation: RCI expects to be able to send commands and get specific responses. When you enter command 198 from the terminal, it switches the controller into an interactive HF control mode where the controller expects the HF control commands rather than the normal commands. RCI doesn’t understand why the normal commands quit working, so it can’t communicate and it complains about it. All that really needs to be done to restore normal communication is to exit the interactive control mode. Unfortunately RCI doesn’t provide a good way to do that once the problem occurs (later versions try to prevent this problem and tell you that command 198 is not supported from RCI’s terminal window).
