No they are not. Only channels that are High Definition channels will be seen in High Definition. Standard Definition channels (both analog Premium Basic channels and digital Standard Definition channels) will be seen in normal mode as on tube type TV’s. Yes, you can stretch the standard definition pictures to wide screen, but they will be distorted or parts around the outside of the picture will not be seen, depending on the settings you choose.. Wide screen does not mean High Definition. It only means that it will fill the screen on a wide screen High Definition TV. On top of all this, only programs that originate in High Definition using High Definition cameras will be in true High Definition. This means that some programs offered on HD channels may still be in Standard Definition, or they may be old programs that have been up-converted to simulate High Definition. Up-converted programs will still not be as sharp as a true High Definition originated program.
