The state of California requires a Master’s degree and an aggressive licensing exam to practice acupuncture as an L.Ac. (Licensed Acupuncturist). Graduates of the first professional Doctor of Oriental Medicine program have advanced, post-graduate training in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine beyond this training to practice acupuncture.
