Are all therapists who treat individuals and couples qualified to do sex therapy?
Unfortunately, therapists trained in individual and couples therapy are not necessarily qualified to do sex therapy. In order for the therapy to be effective, sex therapists utilize specific techniques that are separate and apart from individual and couples therapy. Typically, therapists who treat couples are members of AAMFT and therapists who treat sexual issues are also members of AASECT.
