Are ASEG expecting industry to follow POEMS and POSMS procedures and do all IPTs have to follow them?
The ASEMS and the POEMS and POSMS are business procedures for all IPT’s to apply to all of their projects. New projects and Cat A, B and C projects should receive priority in the application of the new requirements. IPT’s may require industry to follow certain procedures on their projects, and will require the delivery of requirements in accordance with Def Stan 00-56, but IPT’s cannot contract against POEMS and POSMS directly. Instead specifications should refer to the international standard ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 upon which these procedures are based.
