Are BWELL services such as the Focused Awareness programme not some form of a weird, new age or spiritual “cult”?

Absolutely not! It is necessary to acknowledge that some aspects of our integrated services, such as mindfulness training, have been around for a very long time (about 2,500 years, actually) and have been done in connection with certain philosophies such as Buddhism. However, over the past 25 years western psychology practitioners have started to research and separate the techniques and strategies that bring benefits from the spiritual and ideological background on which they had been developed and practised previously. Today, BWELL programmes are specifically designed to be free from any of these spiritual connotations and can be beneficially practised by anyone, regardless of their own beliefs. There is no need whatsoever to blindly “buy into” or “believe in” our models or programmes and there is no “secret knowledge” to be revealed. In fact, a healthy dose of scepticism and scientific thinking is always encouraged and promoted as a crucial tool of creating personal well-being.
