Are Canon Pixma printers a good choice for T-shirt iron on transfers?

Hey Frank- Most Canon Pixma printers use dye based inks. I have never used iron-on transfers for inkjets however my instinct tells me it would probably be best to use a printer that does not use dye based inks and instead uses pigment based inks. If you don’t know the difference, dye based inks are soluble in water and most likely will fade a lot easier than pigments. Pigments are actually small colored particles that float around in the ink and adhere to a printing surface. They do not dissolve in water. Just make sure you buy iron-ons that can use pigment based inks. Epson printers nowadays use all pigment based inks. You may want to go with another Epson. I found this thread online that has some experienced iron-on enthusiasts that seem to back up my instinct that pigments will be better than dyes in the long run. http://www.t-shirtforums.
