Are Christians being hypocritical supporting anti-abortion officials and supporting death penalty supporters?

I don’t support abortion as a practice. I just don’t support you making the choice for someone else when you don’t walk in their shoes. I don’t support the death penalty. Two in recent days were cleared, one spent 27 years on death row for Arson which was later proven accidental. Another was found not to be the murderer by DNA evidence. His only issue was that he had already been executed! People keep forgetting that a fetus is not a child by legal or medical definition and certainly could not survive on its own. As far as the ones you talk about, I believe execution is state sanctioned murder. Hypocritical or not, no one on this planet is God and no one on this planet has ever talked to him! Besides, didn’t he tell you not to judge, or caste the first stone if you haven’t sinned! Christians are hypocrites about a lot of things. That is why so many people have issues with organized religion, which is big business. I don’t need a go between to pray or believe in God! Scriptures are ofte

Jesus gave us one overriding commandment that we should love one another. Now if a woman gets pregnant by accident, without getting into the argument about her morals or competency with contraception, and genuinely does not want to go through with the pregnancy which would either end in the possibility of her heartbreakingly giving up the child for adoption or bringing an unwanted child into the world and ruining two lives, and she asks for an abortion the Christian compassionate act for me is to allow it. I don’t see it as murder because the fetus is still part of her own body and not an autonomous viable human being. Capital punishment is murder though because Jesus told us ‘thou shalt not kill’ and no Christians should be in favour of its reintroduction.

Amen! Anyone who is familiar with the New Testament knows that Jesus was AGAINST capital punishment. You have provided some excellent passages. To your list, I would add: – Matthew 5:7 – Matthew 5:38-39 – James 4:12 – Luke 6:36-37 There are many, many practical problems with capital punishment (that I won’t get into here), but purely from a moral standpoint, it is pretty clear that Jesus did not support it. True CHRISTians shouldn’t, either.

No more than Liberals are by supporting abortion yet not supporting the death penalty……Or supporting big spending from Obama but not Bush…Or by protesting every thing under the sun yet sneering at those that protest big spending and high taxes…Or demanding equal treatment for all except those that oppose their ideals…I could go on but…

Not all Christians are for the death penalty. But there’s a big difference in killing a dangerous criminal, and an as yet to be born human being.
