Are communism and socialism new American values?
Harvey Buller, Solon In one national election cycle, we are hearing of plans to nationalize the banks, socialize health care, purchase millions of individual homes in mortgage default, raise taxes during a recession and launch an “economic stimulus” package that is little more than welfare payments to individuals and pork for the states. What’s worse, this is all being offered against the backdrop of record national budget deficits. I urge Americans to wake up. Our creep toward socialism has become a lurch. Whatever happened to the time-tested American values of self-reliance, free enterprise, prudent investment, entrepreneurship, sacrifice and thrift? Prepare yourselves now for your future – as a serf of the United States government. , Tricia L.
