Are crocodiles and alligators really bulletproof?
Nope. BUT always keep in mind that bullets, water, and alligators can react differently than you might think… a bullet can ricochet off the water’s surface or off the alligator (if the right spots are hit). Also, alligators can survive things that humans can’t. I’ve seen alligators with the corner of their skull blown off with pink scar tissue covering that corner and a gouge across the rest of the head showing the track of the bullet. I’ve also seen cases where people have emptied entire magazines into an alligator and missed anything that would bring about an instant kill… this doesn’t necessarily mean the gator won’t die… just that it will waste away and suffer and take a long time. Also, keep in mind that a few years back a kid was killed by an 11 foot gator here in Florida that had both of it’s eyes shot out… an injured gator is an extremely dangerous alligator, and just because you THINK it’s dead, doesn’t mean it is.
