im unsure if it would be able to regenerate a complete fin if the whole thing was ripped off.if theres just a major rip or part of it missing then it will repair its self in time,abit like our skin heals.iv got a goldfish that had a big chunk of its tail missing due to fin rot before we bought it & theres new ‘skin’ growing nicely on it now.infact its almost got a whole tail now instead of half of one!
