Generally, most countries have very strict policies against introducing species to their ecosystems. Australia in particular is known for being stringent about this. It’s an island, obviously, but it’s also home to a very high percentage of endemic species (species that are only there, nowhere else in the world). They’ve had serious problems in the past with introduced species harming endemics–rabbits, cats, toads, etc. It would be very, very unwise to try and bring anything in that doesn’t belong there.
