Are Mennonites sacramental?

To the question in the title most Mennonites, past and present, would probably answer no. Mennonites often suppose the word “sacrament” refers exclusively to church rituals, such as the Lord’s Supper and baptism. Many Mennonites assume that people who call these rituals sacraments believe these ceremonies—or their elements (such as bread, wine, water)—directly impart divine grace. In other words, people who emphasize sacraments, we tend to think, believe they receive grace simply by participating in such rituals, even if they do so passively.
