New Innovator awardees are not required, but are encouraged, to attend the annual Pioneer Award symposium. Many New Innovator awardees who have attended remark that they find the symposia to be especially enriching and provide excellent opportunities to interact with other awardees of both the New Innovator and Pioneer programs. Awardees are encouraged to set aside part of the award budget to fund travel to the meeting.
