Are polygraph examiners who work for state agencies required to carry a Surety Bond or Insurance?

No. State employees who only give polygraph exams in the course of their state employment are not required to have a bond or an insurance policy if the polygraph examiner and state agency are otherwise insured as discussed in the State Employee Bonding Act, Chapter 653, Title 6 Government Code. The State Employee Bonding Act only applies to polygraph examiners who are employees of state agencies.
