Indeed they are… in fact, the 2003 edition of Writer’s Market lists 8,000 book and magazine editors who hire freelancers. That’s just U.S. publications. And that doesn’t include newspapers or smaller, regional publications. Add to that ever-expanding number a whole host of travel-related web sites. And consider, too, publications elsewhere in the English-speaking world. Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., Hong Kong, Kenya, Israel… the list goes on. What’s more, plenty of non-travel publications include some travel coverage. Take Medical Economics, for example, which publishes travel features that would interest its physician readers. Or Parents magazine, which includes articles about traveling with kids. Or the AARP, which publishes travel articles in its magazine and on its website.
