Are the bleeding irregularities associated with Norplant implants serious?
Most bleeding irregularities associated with Norplant® use are not serious, although they may be troublesome for some users. Change in the menstrual bleeding pattern—the most frequently reported side effect—is to be expected with hormonal methods that do not contain estrogen. If a woman experiences heavy bleeding, she should make a follow-up visit to her physician or healthcare provider.
