Are there any C-mount lenses which match the quality of the traditional PL mount optics?
Yes. Fujinon has a series of low-cost C-mount lenses rated for 2/3 sensors up to 5 megapixels that are a good value for the price. Linos has an exceptional set of C-mount lenses that are available with gearing. Schneider lenses have performed very well. Do not use CCTV lenses – these are made for very low resolutions and have extreme chromatic aberrations. Some older cinema lenses may be used but should be fully tested.
