Yes. So far there were some problems reported with kernels built with gcc 2.95.2 which were solved by compiling it with egcs 2.91.66. Please note that the problems with gcc 2.95.2 seem to be restriced to the i386 platform – on the ppc it works just fine with 2.95.2 for instance. People that are running Debian, SuSE or Slackware should make sure that they are using at least 2.95.3 or later. People running on Red Hat Linux should use gcc => 2.96-85 or later which is provided as a errata update on the Red Hat update site. Earlier versions had issues ranging from oopses to hangs and fs corruption. * NOTE: Gcc 2.91.66 (kgcc) is the most tested and known working compiler with respect to XFS. All the releases so far (including 1.1) are built using the kgcc compiler. If you are using gcc 3.0 and it gives problems or does not compile, drop a note on the list with the oops and ksymoops output. We will be working on getting XFS fully functional with gcc 3.0.
